As the policeman pulled back the sheet, she knew immediately that whatever did this was not from this planet. The markings were ritualistic, but far beyond anything a human could be capable of. She stared at the body for a long time, trying to make out who it could have even been. Part of her wondered if it were even human. The crime scene investigator showed up just in time to snap her out of it. She had no idea what he would say about any of this.
She watched him as he slowly, methodically, did his job without speaking much to anyone. She could see the look of suspicion in his eyes though, and the pure wonder of what could have done this. He finally turned around and looked at the officers, who seemed to have grown in number at this point.
"I am not sure exactly how to say this...but the level of markings on this body is unheard of," the man said in a bit of a squeaky voice.
"Break it down for us," she piped in.
"This body is not human...and I suspect whatever killed it was not either," he said.
In a flash everything got weird. Everyone began to shuffle around like they knew what to do about this, but they had no idea what to do to manage such a chaotic moment. Then, the black cars showed up. She had never seen a task force assemble quite so quickly, and she knew whatever was about to happen would alter her life forever.
What she hadn't expected was to suddenly hear an ear-piercing screech that sent her, and the officers, clamouring to the floor. She stared in horror as one by one the men in suits put black bags over the heads of the officers around her. She tried to yell, she tried to reach for her gun, but she was paralyzed by the metallic scream that filled the air. She felt hands grab her and pull her up, and then watched her vision fade to black as a bag slipped over her eyes.
