Our Own Multi-Versal Madness
How far would you go to fix the reality of what is around you?
I am actually not going to go into a full-on discussion about the new Doctor Strange movie… but rather the idea’s presented in self-actualization that were presented within the movie. We have watched these characters go through a lot in their film tenure. Steven Strange had to face his own inner demons to become a more capable sorcerer and Avenger. Wanda Maximoff had to have everything she loved stripped away and then flipped back on her to realize the sacrifice that would end an out-of-control dominance. Both fell on opposite sides of a singular person… one to destroy, one to protect.
In similar regard, each of us is driven instinctually to do the same, protect or destroy. We often use it on a case-by-case basis, and it is often a tool utilized for self-preservation. How, then, are we to justify what means we use to accomplish our tasks? Where is a line that we could never cross if there is a line at all? There are no clear-cut answers to these questions, outside of the obvious “what does the law say” kind of response. Rather, our internalization of these questions breeds what kind of person we are at our core.
We watched on film as someone warped reality, killed, and unleashed demons in an effort to regain what they had lost. They attempted to offer up a child’s life to gain access to another universe's version of their own kids that didn’t exist in the current reality. Even still, some people will view Wanda as a victim, while others will view her as a villain. How far would you go to fix the reality of what is around you?
